National Center for Teaching and Learning

The National Center for Teaching and Learning' s mission is to promote a culture of innovation and excellence in the area of teaching, learning, and scholarship for all of​ The Chicago School's on ground and online programs.  The NCTL is dedicated to the support and advancement of research-based learning and teaching practices and the professional development of all members of the TCSPP's teaching community. Professional consultants at the Center work collaboratively with faculty, teaching assistants, teaching apprentices, teaching interns, and the academic administration to develop and sustain a  culture that values and rewards teaching, respects and supports individual differences among learners, and creates learning environments in which diverse students and instructors can excel.

The goals of the National Center for Teaching and Learning are as follows:

  • Develop and implement a portfolio of successful initiatives that generates institution-wide interest and participation leading to ongoing improvement of student learning
  • Assist faculty in exploration and experimentation with innovative teaching methods and tools.
  • Advance the scholarship of teaching and learning across campuses.
  • Develop and promote opportunities to prepare students interested in entering the academy.
  • Actively seek grant support to help fund Center activities.
