Chicago Writing Center Mission Statement:

Our mission is to engage students in their learning process, to improve their self-efficacy for writing, and to help them become more effective communicators. We believe writing is a life-long process and that skills acquired and honed while students at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology will enhance their academic, professional, and personal lives.

Chicago Writing Center Vision and Approach:

The Chicago Writing Center serves the Chicago and TCSPP@XULA Campuses. The Chicago Writing Center is a place where students of all degree levels and disciplines can feel safe and supported in developing their skills, a place that is free from judgment, and a place where the processes of inquiry and incremental improvement are valued above all else. In line with the Vision and Values of The Chicago School, the Chicago Writing Center provides innovative services and learning resources to assist students on their path to professional careers.

To advance our mission and vision and assist writers at all stages of their academic journey, we offer:

Help Using the Writing Center:

The Chicago Writing Center offers three appointment options:

  • Scheduled online or in-person meetings of up to 1 hour with a Writing Coach. View our coaches' schedule, select a time, then attach the assignment you would like to discuss. We can typically get through 5-8 pages in a meeting. This option is great for writers who want an in-depth understanding of our suggestions or want to talk through specific questions with an expert.
  • Written feedback on an assignment by a Writing Coach. View our coaches' schedule, select a block of time, and attach your assignment. The coach will review your work at that scheduled time and return a document with feedback within 2-4 hours of the appointment's end time. We can typically read and annotate around 8 pages in a 1-hour appointment.
  • Walk-in visits with a Writing Coach. Check our schedule online or just stop by the Writing Center, Room 606A in the Library, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday. We can typically get through 5-8 pages in a meeting.

Our online scheduling is done through WCONLINE. Register an account with your TCSPP email address, then log in using your myChicagoSchool credentials. If you need help using WCONLINE, email Emily Hilleren.
