An Introduction to Assessment and Treatment of Sexual Offenders in California

Los Angeles

Start Time

9/7/2017 6:00 PM

End Time

9/7/2017 8:00 PM

California is home to more than 100,000 sexual offenders, thereby compelling the fields of law and psychology to work together to decrease recidivism and improve public safety.  While this population is usually portrayed by the media as all being the same, these offenders commit different types of crimes, hold varying levels of risk, and require tailored supervision and treatment.  This presentation will provide an overview of the current standards for sex offender assessment and treatment, including requirements for becoming a certified provider in California.
