The Chicago School of Professional Psychology's 2018 Southern California Commencement ceremony will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Terrace Theater​, 300 E. Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach, CA. 

Ceremony Information

Ceremony participants must check in the S7 Room beneath the Terrace Theater starting at 8:30 am.  The lobby will open for guests at 9:30am, and theater seating will open promptly at 10:00am.

  1. Complete the Intent to Participate in Commencement Form (deadline to submit is (Monday, April 2)
  2. Submit the Petition for Degree Conferral (completed in the final semester)
  3. Order regalia (Sunday, May 27)

Regalia

Regalia for the 2018 ceremony is now available for ordering via Herff Jones, the official vendor for TCSPP.  All regalia will be billed and shipped directly to you from Herff Jones. The deadline to place regalia orders online is Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 11:59pm Central Time.  Any orders placed after this date are subject to additional processing and shipping fees.

Please note: All regalia purchases are final sale.  If you petitioned to walk short of degree requirements, we encourage you to wait for approval to participate prior to ordering.

Regalia Pricing:​

Bachelor's Regalia: $24.55 plus shipping and applicable taxes

·         The bachelor's set includes the cap, gown, and tassel (white).

Master's Regalia: $52.40 plus shipping and applicable taxes

·         The master's set includes the cap, gown, tassel (black), and hood (white).

Doctoral Regalia: $75.65 plus shipping and applicable taxes

·         The doctoral set includes the tam (cap), gown, tassel (gold), and hood (dark blue)

Optional items, including class rings, graduation announcements, and diploma frames, are available through Herff Jones at an additional cost.

Question: Am I eligible to participate in the 2018 Commencement ceremony?

​Graduate Students

You may be eligible to participate in Commencement if:

  1. You completed a graduate degree program in Fall 2017 or expect to complete a degree in Spring 2018, Summer 2018, or Fall 2018
  2. You have not walked in a previous Chicago School commencement ceremony.
  3. You have filed the online Intent to Participate in Commencement Form.

Your academic department will determine your eligibility to participate in the ceremony.

Undergraduate Students

You may be eligible to participate in Commencement if:​​​

  1. ​​All degree requirements are completed.
  2. ​Degree requirements will completed during the Summer 2018 term/semester.
  3. You have not walked in a previous Chicago School commencement ceremony.
  4. You have filed the online Intent to Participate in Commencement Form.​

Your academic department will determine your eligibility to participate in the ceremony.​

​Question: What Commencement deadlines do I have to meet?

The deadline to submit the Intent to Participate in Commencement form is Monday, April 2, 2018.​   

Regalia information will be updated mid-spring 2018.

Question:  Are tickets required for the ceremony?

No, seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Question:  Will I receive academic honors at graduation or on my diploma and transcript?

If you are eligible for honors, it will be noted on your official transcript.

Question: May I walk for more than one degree?

If you are completing two degree programs in one academic year, you may only be recognized during commencement in one-degree program, but your name will be listed in the commencement bulletin for both degrees assuming you have filed all required paperwork. You may walk only one time per degree earned, so, if you have participated in a commencement ceremony already, you may not do so again.

Question: What should I expect on the day of the ceremony?     

Ceremony participants must check-in in the S7 Room beneath the Terrace Theater starting at 8:30am.  Line up for the ceremony will occur promptly at 10:20am, and the ceremony will begin promptly at 11am. The ceremony will last approximately for 2 hours.

Self-pay parking is available in lots public parking lots around the venue. Please budget time for locating parking and traveling to the venue.   The lobby doors will open at 9:30am and seating for the theater will open at 10:00am, and all guests must wait in the lobby until the theater doors open. Please leave all personal belongings with your guests.

Suggested Tips

Leave early – Southern California is infamous for traffic. Map out your route in advance, and add 30 minutes or more to allow for rush hour traffic.

Pick a meeting place – It's hard to find your family and friends am​ong a sea of people. Familiarize yourself with the area around the Terrace Theater and pick a place to meet your guests once the ceremony is over.

Be patient and flexible – Commencement will last approximately 2 hours. If you are planning celebrations/lunch reservations after the event, be aware the ceremony could end earlier or later than the scheduled time.​​

FROM LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: 
Take the San Diego Freeway (405) south to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot, or as advised by directional signage.

FROM LONG BEACH AIRPORT: 
Take Lakewood Boulevard south to the San Diego Freeway (405). Take the San Diego Freeway (405) north to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot, or as advised by directional signage.

FROM THE JOHN WAYNE (ORANGE COUNTY) AIRPORT:
Take the San Diego Freeway (405) north to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot or as advised by directional signage.

FROM SOUTHERN ORANGE COUNTY: 
Take the Santa Ana Freeway (5) north to the San Diego Freeway (405). Take the San Diego Freeway (405) north to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot or as advised by directional signage.

FROM NORTH ORANGE COUNTY AND THE VALLEYS:
San Gabriel & Pomona Valleys take the Orange Freeway (57) or San Gabriel Freeway (605) to the Riverside Freeway (91) to the Long Beach Freeway (710). Go south on the Long Beach Freeway to the Downtown Exits. (710 then becomes Shoreline Drive). Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot or as advised by directional signage.
